North Charleston Police Chief Reggie Burgess has been nominated by Governor Henry McMaster to lead South Carolina’s Department of Public Safety. Gov. McMaster’s office released Wednesday an official nomination letter he sent to the S.C. Senate, announcing Burgess as his choice to replace current SCDPS Director Leroy Smith, whose current term ends in February.
